We have a chance to surpass our economic growth measured before the pandemic. Not only will Poland avoid recession, but it can also expect a strong economic recovery, Poland’s prime minister wrote on social media.

By the fourth quarter, we can surpass our pre-pandemic economic growth and expect a strong economic upswing, Mateusz Morawiecki wrote, adding that he foresees that growth would be around 4 per cent.

In his post, the prime minister stressed that Poland has the lowest unemployment rate in the entire European Union, thanks to programs such as the National Reconstruction Plan and the New Deal, which “increase the chances of dynamic economic growth.”

According to data published by Eurostat on Thursday, Poland’s unemployment rate – measured at 3,1 per cent in January – was the lowest in the EU in that month.

Speaking of Poland’s jobless rate, PM Morawiecki recalled that a few months ago, when Poland was in the second or third place in terms of unemployment, he said he would like to catch up to the Czechs, then in first place, which they now managed.

Poland has come a long way in recent years to achieve this, he added.
