Italian Interior Minister Salvini asked to replace Juncker as President of the European Commission

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini could replace Juncker as president of the European Commission.

It has been suggested that the Italian Nationalist run against France’s socialist Macron to replace Jean-Claude Juncker, whose term as President ends in October 2019.

In an interview with La Repubblica, the populist and fierce Italian Lega leader confirms the rumours: “It’s true, various friends in European countries have asked, they are proposing me.

“It’s a compliment that they see me as a reference point for defending the people, even outside of Italy.”

Salvini, besides being voted as Italy’s most popular politician in history, has caught the attention of Europeans and people worldwide as he has stood against the EU’s destructive policies to protect his country.
