Hungarian Justice Minister: we need a multipolar, intelligent Europe

By UME

Judit Varga posts video for Europe Day that sheds light on the Union’s challenges

Instead of a closer and more centralized Union, we need a multipolar, intelligent Europe, said Hungarian Justice Minister Judit Varga in a Facebook video posted on Europe Day on May 9th.

“We Hungarians have always thought about Europe rationally. We have always recognized and made aware of the difficulties and dangers affecting the continent in good time, and for this reason Hungarians can play a key role in an honest dialogue on Europe in the coming months, “said Varga. “In the period ahead we must look together for answers to the most important questions about Europe: How can it be that the success story of the 20th century can no longer cope with the challenges of the new era? How can it be that the economic area that once developed most dynamically is now losing ground in the global arena? Why do the answers to the challenges always come too late and are wrong,

After the questions, Varga also gave her answer.

“The most important lesson of the last decade is that instead of an ever closer Union we need a multipolar, smarter Europe. The future of Europe cannot be planned without respect for national constitutions, a culture of consensus and equality among member states, ”said Varga, adding that she will present her country’s plans in detail in the next few episodes.

“In the coming week I will present in detail the Hungarian proposals that will lay the foundation for an active and successful Europe. There is no European Union without Hungary, ”said Varga.

This year the European Union celebrated Europe Day with a 90-minute video with songs from all member states, opened by the Hungarian pop singer Gabi Tóth, who performed a traditional Hungarian folk song.
