A 25-year-old German citizen of Turkish descent admitted over the weekend to carrying out four separate attacks on Turkish establishments in the town of Waldkraiburg.
The unnamed male was arrested in Bavaria on Friday at a railway station for failing to pay for a ticket. Police, when searching the suspect’s luggage, discovered several makeshift pipe bombs.
As a precaution, police evacuated buildings nearby the suspect’s home after he claimed to have other weapons and explosives stashed back at his home.
Upon searching the suspect’s home and vehicle, investigators from the State Criminal Police Office discovered another 13 pipe bombs, ten kilos of bomb-making chemicals, a pistol, and other explosives in significant quantities.
While being interrogated, the suspect – who’s the son of Turkish immigrants – claimed that he supported and fought for the Islamic State, German broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk reports
