According to a new poll, Italy’s former interior minister Matteo Salvini is now the country’s most trusted politician.
The leader of the national populist League party received a 40 percent trust rating in the poll, just edging out Italy’s sitting Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who received 39 percent.
The poll also revealed that 48 percent of respondents said that they little to no confidence in the globalist coalition government between Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement, Italy’s Giornale reports.
Giorgia Meloni, the leader of national-conservative Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, was trusted by 29 percent of respondents, edging out the Fiver Star Movement’s leader Luigi Di Maio, who was trusted by 28 percent of those who were polled.
Like Matteo Salvini, Meloni has also denounced the new globalist coalition as anti-democratic and has called for new elections.
