As part of a challenge on racial equity, participants are asked to work through a checklist on white privileges containing nearly 100 statements. The more statements participants mark as applying to them, the more certain it is that they are privileged.

Disney’s anti-racism training, teaching its employees that America was built on systemic racism, has provoked strong reactions in recent days. In addition, Disney also sponsored the creation of a “21-day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge” by YWCA, an organisation working to eliminate racism, conservative journalist Christopher F. Rufo reported on social media.

Disney also recommended the challenge to its employees.  It begins with a lesson on systemic racism, followed by a checklist compiled by the YWCA’s Cleveland branch. The checklist employees need to work through contains nearly 100 statements. The more statements they mark as applying to them, the more certain it is that they are privileged.

The list of white privileges contains some shocking elements. Even being heterosexual and having heterosexual parents qualifies as a privilege, as well as never having attempted to change sex. Other statements include never having a student loan, buying new clothes every month, having completed college studies or ever taken part in a summer camp. Those having an affirmative answer to these seem to be considered privileged, which has become reprehensible of late.

According to the list, not having any learning disability and ever been called overweight or too skinny are indications of white privilege. Never having been shamed for one’s religion or nervous while waiting for airport inspections are also negative signs, indicating that the person in question is privileged.
