Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has launched a furious attack on Emmanuel Macron after the French President claimed there was a political crisis between the country and the rest of Europe, reports Express.
Mr Macron made the comments to reporters following his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The French President was referring to the hardline stance taken by Italy’s populist government on illegal immigration and the rejection of rescue ships that pick up stranded migrants in the Mediterranean.
The latest rescue vessel in question is the Aquarius 2, which last week picked up 58 migrants, including 16 children, but remained stranded at sea for several days as negotiations about where it could dock continued.
