EC Chief admits they weren’t sufficiently prepared for vaccine purchases

By: V4 Agency

The European Commission’s president acknowledged yesterday that the EU’s leadership was not sufficiently prepared for the procurement of vaccines, Hungary’s justice minister wrote on social media.

“Although these mistakes can’t be corrected, they should work on making future procurements faster”, Judit Varga wrote, adding that Hungary reserved more than 19 million doses from the EU imports. The government, however, “can’t watch idly the slow acquisition process, it should look for other alternatives,” she added.

“Where the government negotiated, palpable results were achieved,” the justice minister wrote. Ms Varga noted that the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine is expected to arrive next week, “while the Russian vaccine is already being used, which contrary to fake news, is safe and effective. Even a publication in The Lancet, one of the most recognised medical journals, endorses the vaccine,” she added.

Judit Varga cocluded her message by writing that the most important thing for the Hungarian government was the health of Hungarian people.
