Donald Tusk’s statement part of witch-hunt against Poland and Hungary

By: V4 Agency

Donald Tusk’s statement is part of the witch-hunt against the democratically elected governments and leading political forces of Hungary and Poland, Hungary’s state secretary for international communications and relations said, commenting on critical remarks by the European People’s Party president with regard to the Hungarian and Polish governments’ pandemic management.

“Hungary and Poland are breaking tragic records in new cases and deaths,” Donald Tusk wrote on his Twitter account.  “Illiberal democracies in action. They have promised less freedom but more safety and security. And they have kept their promise, but only its first half,’ the EPP president added.

In recent years, Donald Tusk has assumed a “provocateur’s attitude,” state secretary Zoltan Kovacs said, adding that Tusk’s statement made him sound “like the leader of the Liberals”. The Hungarian politician pointed out that Donald Tusk is set to use the pandemic and related data, taken out of a comparable context, for political purposes, and this “reveals everything about the determination and the goal”.

He noted that the measures introduced during the first and second waves of the pandemic were not effective enough to fight the British variant, adding that the only solution was vaccination for everyone.

This faith and trust is destroyed by these statements, he said, adding that the Hungarian left is doing the same. It can contradict itself every day or even within the same day just to oppose the government or the government’s actions, and to create uncertainty in the Hungarian people. According to Zoltan Kovacs, Donald Tusk had concentrated his efforts on serving those goals.

The state secretary drew attention to the fact that, contrary to Donald Tusk’s statement, Hungary is “somewhere below the European average” in terms of excess deaths.

Zoltan Kovacs was also asked about the fact that CNN’s technical director had admitted to the network’s practicing the “art of manipulation” in order to “change the world.” The director also explained that the news network was engaged in spreading false propaganda in order to oust former Republican US President Donald Trump from office.

The art of systematic manipulation which CNN has developed to perfection is one of the most dangerous phenomena of recent times, Zoltan Kovacs said. When this is linked to political goals and to the campaign aimed at creating insecurity regarding health protection, it is literally life-threatening and costs human lives, he added.
