- At the beginning of the academic year, the Collegium Intermarium of the Free University of Central Europe (Warsaw) will begin its teaching activities.
- It will open with an international conference on “Collegium Intermarium: the place of truth in times of cultural abolition”. It will take place on 1 October.
- The event will be attended by scientists and politicians from many countries, including Sohrab Ahmari, Prof. Adrian Vermule, Dr. Gregor Puppinck, Marion Maréchal, Dr. Józef Zych and Prof. Anna Łabno.
- The conference aims to highlight the challenges facing the academic world in the age of so-called “cancel culture”, i.e. ideological attacks on the freedom of scientific debate and expression.
The aim of the Collegium Intermarium is to create a platform for reliable academic debate and collaboration between scientists, especially from Central and Eastern Europe. The university strives for a return to the classic idea of a university. The realization of this idea is hampered by aggressive ideological attacks that exclude certain individuals and value systems from the public space (including the university space).
The event will be attended by experts from different parts of the world. One of the participants is Sohrab Ahmari – writer, author of numerous bestsellers, publicist and opinion editor at the “New York Post”. The conference will also be attended by Princess Ingrid Detter de Frankopan, head of the International Law Department at the Collegium Intermarium, who has advised Pope John Paul II for years. Professor Adrian Vermule, Harvard lecturer, will also be a speaker. The Polish academic community will be represented, among others, by Prof. Anna Łabno, the former President of the Sejm Dr. Józef Zych and Dr. Tymoteusz Zych – Rector of the Kolleg.
Politicians will also attend the event. Speakers include Marion Maréchal, former member of the French National Assembly and founder of the ISSEP College. The conference will also be attended by government representatives: Balázs Orbán, Minister in the Office of the Hungarian Prime Minister and at the same time Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mathias Corvinus College in Budapest, and Paweł Jabłoński, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland. Croatian MEP Dr Stjepo Bartulica will be present, as will Slovak MEP Anna Záborská.
The event will take place on October 1 at the Institute of Rural Culture and Cultural Heritage in Warsaw, Krakowskie Przedmieście Street 66, and will start at 10 am.
