The prime minister of the South-East European country has announced the news on social media.
As the healthcare systems of the Czech Republic and Slovakia have come under extreme pressure, Croatia is prepared to provide hospital treatment to one dozen patients from both Slovakia and Czechia, if needed, Croatian PM Andrej Plenkovic announced on Twitter, after consulting his Czech and Slovak counterparts – PM Andrej Babis and PM Igor Matovic – on the phone.
Slovakia has registered more than 325 thousand coronavirus cases while the Czech Republic has reported more than 1.3 million infections so far. Because of the critical situation, both countries have activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, allowing the two V4 countries to transfer patients abroad for medical care. Czechia has already transported patients to Germany, Switzerland and Poland, while Slovakia has transferred some of its patients to Germany and Poland.
