The civil initiative Voice of Pensioners, led by Pavel Rupar, has started collecting signatures for the dissolution of the current parliament and the call for early elections.
At our last NATIONWIDE PROTEST, we promised that at the beginning of 2025, we would start collecting signatures from all of you dissatisfied with the performance of the current government, the group stated in a press release.
“Well, here we are in the new year, with new taxes, higher RTV fees, and who knows how many other costs they will impose, all of which will affect your paychecks,” said Pavel Rupar in a TikTok video.
Reasons cited for collecting signatures to dissolve parliament and hold early elections include:
- Government inefficiency and inaction
- Lack of response to flood disasters
- Corruption
- Daily introduction of new taxes
- Failure to address rising inflation and poverty
- Ignoring retirees’ calls for pension increases
The Voice of Pensioners is calling on citizens to sign the online petition, which can be found here, or to sign in person with their coordinators, who will be active in the field in the coming days, as Rupar explained.
“They are robbing us and stealing from us […] We have two choices: either we endure and let this totalitarianism establish itself for decades, or we take action. The first step is collecting signatures – a petition for early elections,” Rupar emphasised, adding that signatures will also be collected in the field. “There is still some hope,” he concluded, urging people to unite, as “enough is enough.”
