The members of the National Council will decide in today’s session on the proposal to establish an investigative commission that will deal with the operations of the companies Gen-I and Star Solar, as well as the alleged illegal financing of the Freedom Movement. The proposal for the appointment of an investigative commission was submitted by National Council member from the ranks of SDS, Andrej Poglajen.

The purpose of the parliamentary investigation is, among other things, to clarify and explain all facts and circumstances, and assess the actual situation of the alleged financial depletion of the company Gen-I and the illegal financing of the election campaign of the Freedom Movement for the parliamentary elections in 2022, as stated in the published proposal for the appointment of an investigative commission.

If established, the members of the investigative commission will also determine the role and responsibility of the former CEO of Gen-I and the current Prime Minister, Robert Golob, during the period when the company was under predominant influence or ownership of the state, and to what extent he allegedly acted unlawfully or in violation of applicable legislation.

“The appointment of this parliamentary investigation is justified and necessary because there were information spreading in the media before and during the parliamentary elections in 2022 about allegedly questionable financing of the pre-election campaign of the political party Freedom Movement and allegedly questionable business activities. This includes business consulting by the company Gen-I for the company KCA, whose founder was Vesna Vuković, who then transferred ownership to an individual who also writes for the same online portal Necenzurirano.si,” as stated in the proposal.

The National Assembly does not vote on the appointment of a parliamentary investigation requested by the National Council, as it must be ordered in accordance with the constitution.
