The court has decided on the fate of Golob’s informal public relations advisor. He has been definitively sentenced to one and a half years in prison and a fine of 15 thousand euros for aiding in the abuse of position due to involvement in a fictitious deal with the company SŽ – Železničarsko gradbeno podjetje.

Milović was a central figure in one of the first major scandals involving Prime Minister Robert Golob. The latter stated that he met his informal advisor in a previous life, and he was supposed to advise him on security issues.

The connection between Milović and Golob was thoroughly exposed by former Interior Minister Tatjana Bobnar in her testimony in the National Assembly. Golob allegedly used him as an intermediary in police appointments. Bobnar stated that Milović called the Ministry of the Interior and demanded that the ministry employ a specific person. The person had received a “negative opinion” from the police in the past, and the employment would constitute “personnel corruption”, as expressed by the former acting Director General of the Police, Boštjan Lindav.

During Milović’s advisory role to Golob, the latter established a special form of security separate from the police, which is generally responsible for the protection of the prime minister.

Milović was not employed in the prime minister’s office, and Golob claimed that Milović advised him pro bono and was not paid from other sources. “He advised as a private individual, and no one pays him from elsewhere,” Golob said.

Later, it turned out that Milović had business dealings with GEN-I, the company led by the prime minister before entering politics. He had concluded seven contracts or annexes with the company in the past.

Prime Minister’s advisor definitively convicted

Milović was definitively convicted for aiding in the abuse of position due to involvement in a fictitious deal with the company SŽ – Železničarsko gradbeno podjetje. The value of the deal was 390 thousand euros. He received a summons to serve the prison sentence in September of last year when he requested a deferral and alternative serving of the sentence.
