In response to the announced interpellation of Minister Simona Kustec, the Ministry of Education stated that they could not comment on the interpellation until it was filed. However, they emphasised that preparations for the beginning of the new school year are underway, as well as that there will be no significant innovations in pedagogical work, but the novelty will be a condition of the PCT. Prime Minister Janez Janša wrote that Tanja Fajon’s SD was only harassing, while Minister Kustec had done a lot for a safe school. “Everything for the government”, wrote Gregor Perič from SMC.
After the meeting of the leaders of the four opposition parties, SD President Tanja Fajon announced today the filing of an interpellation against the Minister of Education Simona Kustec. It could be filed within a week, and the main complaint is that 14 days before the start of the new school year, it is still not clear how the lessons will take place.
The first known information will be on Wednesday
The Ministry stated in a written response that preparations for the new school year are underway. The first meeting with all principals of primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, with information about the new school year, will be on Wednesday, when the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport is preparing a videoconference meeting with them, which will also be attended by representatives of the National Education Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Health the National Institute of Public Health and other stakeholders.
Next week, there will be a traditional professional meeting of principals of educational institutions before the start of the school year, writes STA. “As every year so far, we will inform the schools before the beginning of the school year with all the information about it, including circulars. There will be no significant innovations in pedagogical work, we will introduce measures that are meaningful and feasible. The novelty will be the condition of the PCT, which will be necessary for safe entry into the school premises,” the Ministry added. At the same time, they wished a speedy recovery to the Minister, who announced on Monday that she was infected with the new coronavirus. Namely, Kustec explained on Twitter that she has been in self-isolation since Saturday, and received a confirmed positive result on Monday. All activities for a safe start of school are going smoothly, she wrote on Monday.
Coalition response: mischievous harassing during illness
The leader of the SMC parliamentary group, Gregor Perič, accompanied the announced interpellation of the Minister from their party’s quota on Twitter with a comment that this is how the human and other solidarity of the SD is shown. “To file an interpellation for Minister Kustec on sick leave due to covid-19,” he said, adding with a hashtag: “Everything for the government”.
“Unfortunately, that is all they can do in the Social Democrats. They overthrow the government’s measures against covid19, and then blame those who have been striving for a normal life for 17 months for the consequences. Minister Simona Kustec has done a lot for a safe school, and SD Tanja Fajon is only mischievously harasses,” commented Prime Minister Janez Janša on the announcement of the interpellation.
