Prime Minister Janez Janša on a working lunch with the Portuguese president Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa

By: UKOM

Yesterday, Prime Minister Janez Janša held a working lunch with the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who is paying an official visit to Slovenia between 31 May and 1 June 2021 at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor. This is the second bilateral visit of a Portuguese president to Slovenia so far (the first such visit was in April 1999 by the then Portuguese president Jorge Sampaio).

In addition to discussing the priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Conference on the Future of Europe and the Western Balkans, the Slovenian Prime Minister and the Portuguese president also exchanged views on the bilateral relations between the countries, which have continued to strengthen in all areas: from economy, culture, science, digitalisation, transport, and environmental protection to interparliamentary cooperation.
