Miraculous awakening of young managers (with very meaningful leaders of associations and sections): all of a sudden, they are disturbed by supposedly unacceptable corporate governance practices

By: Vida Kocjan

The AmCham Young Leaders Club and the Young Managers Section of the Association of Managers have miraculously responded in recent days. Suddenly they are bothered by allegedly unacceptable corporate governance practices. They feel “cheated, disappointed and appalled”, such is their response to some of the decisions of the supervisory boards in connection with the management of state-owned companies. Furthermore, they are disturbed even by uttered (justified) criticisms at the expense of justice and the like. Apparently, “unacceptable practices”, in their opinion, cause a loss of confidence in the economy, businesspeople and politics, so they feel obliged to point this out.

All well and good, if they were consistent in their actions.

It is interesting that AmCham and young managers did not respond when Zoran Janković was appointed to head the Mercator Business System (Rop’s sentence is known: We, politics set you up) or Robert Golob in GEN-I (SAB vice president), Boris Sovič to Elektro Maribor (SD) and Dravske elektrarne Maribor (DEM), or Golobič’s Andrej Ribič for the president of the supervisory board in Eles, or the president of the management board of Elektro Ljubljana and the like. However, they are now bothered by their dismissals, namely Golob’s third term has expired.

This is interesting, especially if we know that the president of the Section of Young Managers is Tanja Subotič Levanič, a former PR person of former Prime Minister Miro Cerar. After Cerar’s failure in 2018, Subotič Levanič “miraculously” got a job at Pivovarna Laško.

Their concern is really interesting! Interesting and telling, but not credible.
