At Mladina, where they like to invoke the professionalism of their articles and above all their independence, they are already, less than two months before the election, sailing full‑speed ahead with a political campaign for a new left‑wing government.
At the same time, they are doing everything they can to smear the SDS president and incite people against anything in Slovenia that leans to the right.
Despite the fact that Robert Golob has shown more repression through his authoritarian style than anyone since independence, Mladina is now trying to convince people that, in their view, Janez Janša is the one who poses a danger to democracy. With the help of the far‑left Janko Lorenci, they claim that under Janša the media and healthcare would supposedly be at risk, although both have already experienced their darkest scenario under Golob, and of course they are also worried about the government‑funded NGOs.
But Janez Janša has a clear response to all these accusations: “It will be much worse for Mladina online. Honest people will no longer have to work for the lazy.” Dr Žiga Turk also believes that Mladina is merely agitating and nothing more, especially at a time when we are facing problems in several areas. “Exactly. I have nothing against the welfare state, but it bothers me when it is used to support laziness and those who abuse the system.”
