Janez Janša confirms: Numerous irregularities occurred during the election, complaints will be filed with the electoral commissions

By: C. R.

SDS leader Janez Janša stated at the press conference that Sunday’s parliamentary elections saw the highest number of irregularities so far. Allegedly, they occurred in postal voting, and there were even instances of ballot boxes being taken away from polling stations. He announced that the result of early voting is not credible and will be challenged.”

In Janša’s assessment, the result of early voting is not credible and should not be taken into account in the final results. Therefore, they will use all legal avenues to challenge it, he said.

They will not contest the overall result, but complaints will be filed at individual polling stations due to irregularities. According to him, various irregularities occurred. At some rural polling stations, ballot papers ran out, and while waiting for new ones, people went home. Photos appeared that allegedly showed ballot boxes being taken away from certain polling stations. Some voters abroad did not receive their ballots on time, while in Brussels some reportedly received two. The website of the National Electoral Commission crashed during the entry of results, and at times the results were mixed up, with elected MPs appearing under different parties… According to him, the Information Security Office is also examining the functioning of the website.

Janša added that the claims they noticed on social media or received from others are still being verified by the party itself. So, they do not “buy” everything.

According to partial unofficial results, SDS received 27.95 percent of the vote and 28 parliamentary seats, placing it in second place behind the Freedom Movement. The difference between the two parties is less than 8,000 votes.

Janša also said that he is not yet forming a government, but he will attend the meeting to which President Nataša Pirc Musar has invited him next week.
