Is the fear of the truth so great? The European Parliament’s delegation with Sophie in ’t Veld did not allow the meeting to be recorded, therefore it was cancelled

A delegation of the European Parliament Committee headed by Sophie in ’t Veld is on a three-day visit to Slovenia. They were supposed to have a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Culture, but because they refused to film, they cancelled the meeting. Why are they afraid the meeting to be filmed?

“At the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, we regret that there was no meeting with the delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE). At the Ministry, we wanted this meeting to be recorded, but the delegation refused. The recording and transcription of this meeting would only be internal and intended only for the preparation of the minutes and archives of the Ministry,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia understands that such meetings are internal, i.e. without the presence of the media or the public, although politicians at all levels must strive for the greatest possible openness to the public. “At the same time, we believe that there is no reason not to allow filming, at least for internal purposes, and this decision by the European Parliament delegation seems unreasonable to us. That is why we cancelled today’s meeting with this delegation.”
