Dr. Vesna Vuk Godina, an anthropologist, a lecturer and a columnist, and privately a fan of Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković, knows how to be controversial with her statements as well as how to provoke important public debates. But her recent statement on the portal focuspokus.si goes beyond controversy and it borders, if not exceeds the limit of permissible civil disobedience, not to mention the general decency and academic integrity.
Vesna Vuk Godina, a professor and a columnist, never hid in her columns whom she favours politically. She belongs to “vozu Janković na Nedeljom u dva”, which means that she is notoriously against Janša and supports Zoran Janković, who, according to some sources, “reminds her of Tito”. Thus, we were not surprised when she spat the current government in her column, but we were surprised by the extremely low level of argumentation and common sense.
Always controversial, but so far rarely “stupid”
Vesna Vuk Godina has never been, as established above, a supporter of Janša, but sometimes her columns, even if you did not agree with them, had some basis. However, in the last column it seems as if she cognitively and intellectually regressed to a level of a “crying child whose parents took away his toy” and who cannot be reassured by any words from his parents, no matter how rational they are. Bojan Požar and Matej Lahovnik also noticed this on Twitter.
Opposing the measures because of the dislike for Janša, opposing Janša because the measures are not effective enough
Bojan Požar nicely summed up what in her column is obscene and is lowering her academic integrity: She publicly admitted that she violates – and called for the violation – of life-saving measures, simply because they are introduced by the government of Janez Janša. She turned out to be someone who, with the help of her academic authority, incites people with an extremely biased, ideological way.
Dr. Lahovnik demonstrated what is crazy about her statement, if we disregard the expressions of hysteria, anomaly, desire for power of the entire left-wing: She admits that she is opposing the measures simply because she dislikes Janša. Then she cites the effects of her malicious (non) work as the argument for overthrowing the government. This statement is simply put – the statement of a crazy person, a person who is no longer able to behave decently in public, let alone to be trusted to teach your children.
