Some Slovenian media report that UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has been actively involved in the overthrow of the center-right government of Janez Janša. According to unofficial information, he and Gregor Golobič allegedly called three members of the government SMC party and tried to persuade them to join the camp of the left-wing opposition coalition KUL (Coalition of the Constitutional Arc).
According to at least two media reports, the failed politician Gregor Golobič and UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin called three SMC deputies: Janja Sluga, Branislav Rajić and Igor Zorčič. Apparently the communication was very awkward as they dare not talk about it.
According to some Slovenian media, Aleksander Čeferin, who is known for always saying that politics should not interfere in sports (and vice versa), was actively involved in overthrowing a completely legitimate and legal center-right government. If this is true, a serious question arises as to how this interference is consistent with the integrity of the function of the UEFA president.
The question of what they think about this (and whether they will launch a debate at UEFA), we addressed to individual national football federations. When we receive the answers, we will publish them.
