The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has announced that this year’s Bled Strategic Forum, which will take place on Wednesday, September 1st, will be attended by a record number of foreign leaders in the history of the organisation of this event.
“The year is over and we will meet again on Wednesday at the Bled Strategic Forum,” Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša reminded of the upcoming event. Already last year’s event in Bled was attended by the then record participation of foreign representatives of countries, but this time the cast will be even stronger, which testifies to the increasingly important role of the event and the reputation of Slovenia, which is the host country. To convince so many eminent foreign statesmen, you have to show a considerable degree of respect in the international community.
The government has not yet revealed all the participants, but a few are known. These are the Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapić, the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia Zoran Zaev, the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli.
Strong diplomacy is needed for such a top-notch event organisation
It is interesting to add that the Bled Strategic Forum in 2019, when the government was led by Marjan Šarec, was attended by only one Prime Minister – and that was only Šarec. It was similar in 2014, when the government was led by Miro Cerar. Otherwise, the attendance graph below says a lot about diplomatic activities in the days of left wing governments. This one was, to put it mildly, very modest.
