Slovenia beat Malta 1:0 in the qualifying for the 2022 World Cup on Saturday evening, a crucial win for the team before they head to Croatia on Tuesday for round six of qualifying.
The sole goal of the broadly equal match came in the 45th minute, when Sandi Lovrić scored a penalty shot. Slovenia are now third in Group H with seven points from five games. Both Russia and Croatia have ten points, having won their games against Cyprus and Slovakia, respectively.
