Slovenian motocross rider Tim Gajser secured the title of MXGP world champion for 2020 with the second place in the first ride of the penultimate race of the season in Pietramurata. This is his third title in this class after the 2016 and 2019 seasons.
Gajser started the penultimate race of the season with 73 points ahead of the pursuers, and then, despite a poor start, he finally came in second place.
His work was also made easier by his closest follower, the Italian Antonio Cairoli, who fell in the tenth lap. Gajser was able to came past him securing a big enough advantage until the end, so that now his rivals in the standings can no longer catch him.
For Gajser, today’s title is the fourth in his career, as he has three in the strongest class and another in the 2015 MX2 class.
