Recreationists are invited this week to take part in the first ever Half Ironman Triathlon in Slovenia, to be held on the coast, to explore the hills of south-western Slovenia in a running event or to take part in a mountain cycling, mountain running and paragliding triathlon in the Julian Alps.
I feel Slovenia Ironman 70.3 Slovenian Istria, to be held in Koper, Ankaran, Izola and Portorož on Sunday, consists of a 1.9-km swim, a 90-km bike ride and a 21.1-km run.
The start and finish of the largest triathlon event in the country ever will be in Koper, with the participants having eight and a half hours to complete it.

With its four trails, SLO100 Ultra Trail 2018 connects the hills of south-western Slovenia, running through “pristine and wild nature with vast forests” and including steep climbs to hill tops and runs along intermittent lakes and subterranean rivers.
The event on Friday, featuring two 100-km trails, one 50-km trail and another 22-km trail, can also be “adrenaline-filled, but it certainly impresses with its natural wonders and brings unforgettable experience”, the organisers say.

The Champion of Julian Alps, which will also take place on Friday, meanwhile combines mountain cycling, mountain running and paragliding, featuring 42 kilometres and 2,144 metres of climbing.
“The three combine into a spectacular test of power, stamina and team spirit,” the organisers say.
