Cristiano Ronaldo could miss an emotional reunion with Manchester United after being sent off on his Champions League debut for Juventus, sports media reported.

The forward was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident after 29 minutes of his new side’s game at Valencia.

Television replays showed Ronaldo clashing with Jeison Murillo with the Juventus man appearing to kick out at the defender before tugging his hair as he sat on the pitch.

Ronaldo, who has scored 121 goals in the competition, protested his innocence and burst into tears as headed for the touchline.

He will at least miss the home game against Young Boys but could be forced to sit out the double-header against United if he is banned for three games.
