“What you experience there when we finished our expedition is unforgettable, people in the inns and on the streets got up from the tables and applauded us,” a member of the fire department shared his experience in Northern Macedonia, where Slovenian firefighters were sent to help put out the fires.
Slovenia responded to the aid and provided rescue assistance to Northern Macedonia and in two “shipments” almost 100 members of civil protection and firefighters, as well as several fire engines and other equipment.

The first expedition, which helped put out the fires, returned home as early as Thursday. The team was successful in limiting the fire in the area of Berovo, rescuing four villages from the fire. The new team, which returned today, had a more stable situation on the field. The first team had already localised the fire, and when they left, it started to rain in the area of Berovo.
Upon their return to Slovenia yesterday, they were welcomed in Roje.
