The State Election Commission, Run By Dušan Vučko, Miscalculated The Results For As Many As Six Parliamentary Seats Of The Freedom Movement, Slovenian Democratic Party, New Slovenia Party, And The Left!

By Sara Kovač (Nova24tv)

Due to a computer error, there was a miscalculation about who the future MPs will be in as many as six cases, the media outlet Siol reports. Two mistakes happened in the case of the Freedom Movement party (Gibanje Svoboda), two for the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenska demokratska stranka – SDS), and one each in the New Slovenia party (Nova Slovenija – NSi) and the Left party (Levica).

The State Election Commission, which confirms the final results of the elections, is currently discussing the incorrect calculation of the distribution of seats in the National Assembly so that the President Peter Golob and Director of the Commission, Dušan Vučko, could hand the correct results over to President of the Republic, Borut Pahor, tomorrow.

In Robert Golob‘s Freedom Movement, it was Franc Props (Novo mesto) and Tine Novak (Ptuj) who actually won the seats, and not Tomaž Lah (Maribor) and Jurij Lep (Maribor), for whom we thought so far that they would become MPs. From Janez Janša‘s Slovenian Democratic Party, Alenka Helbl (Celje) and Dejan Kaloh (Maribor) won the seats, but not Maja Kocjan (Novo mesto) and Andrej Kosi (Ptuj). Janez Žakelj (Kranj) from the New Slovenia party won the mandate, and not Klemen Matk (Celje). And in the Left party, it is actually Tatjana Greif (Maribor) and not Ana Černe (Kranj) that won the seat, Siol also reported.

Why did the error occur?
Computer scientists and mathematicians are currently explaining to the members of the State Election Commission how it is even possible that such a mistake happened and why they discovered it so late. However, they ensured that now, the mandates are calculated correctly.
