State Secretary Kajzer attends OECD Development Centre meeting

Today, State Secretary Tone Kajzer attended the annual high-level meeting of the OECD Development Centre Governing Board held in a virtual format. The aim of the meeting was to share experience between member countries and international organisations of the steps taken to mitigate the COVID-19 impact. During the discussion, the participants outlined the Centre’s programme for the following two years.

In his address, State Secretary Kajzer pointed out the importance of joint efforts in minimising the impact of COVID-19 and harmonising the measures on national and international levels, which will strengthen the resilience of communities to the ramifications of the pandemic. He presented Slovenia’s experience in providing assistance to businesses and in the sphere of education. He also informed the participants that Slovenia had reprogrammed 20% of its development and humanitarian assistance funds for projects aimed directly at alleviating the impact of COVID-19.

The mission of the OECD Development Centre is providing help to developing countries and emerging economies. The Centre prepares analyses and advises countries on choosing policies for enhancing sustainable growth, reducing poverty and inequality, and improving living standards of the population. Slovenia has been a member of the Centre since 2015.
