The European Anti-Trafficking Day, 18 October, highlights the importance of raising awareness of trafficking in human beings. In Slovenia, the dominant form is the exploitation of prostitution. And those in charge want to raise awareness of other forms, especially about forced labor. The Workers’ Advisory Council calls on the government to place the fight against all forms among the priorities.
Trafficking in persons for the purpose of forced labor and exploitation of workers is increasing. In the EU Member States, 21% of all registered victims of trafficking in human beings are present, but the real extent of the problem is largely hidden. Recognizing, discovering and proving this form of trafficking in human beings is very difficult, they were brought to the attention of the Government Communication Office on European Day.
