Romana Tomc: “New rules on illegal migration”

By: Moja Dolenjska

“New rules on illegal migration establish conditions for the operation of return centres outside the EU, where countries will send illegal migrants who have no right to stay in the EU. Countries that refuse to accept them will face sanctions.”

This was announced via social media by MEP Romana Tomc, head of the Slovenian EPP/ELS delegation in Brussels and vice president of the largest political group in the European Parliament, the European People’s Party (EPP).

Tomc stated that at the beginning of its mandate, the EPP tasked the European Commission with preparing numerous measures in various areas, giving it 100 days to do so.

Changes to the Migration Pact represent the fulfilment of one of these EPP demands.

“The EPP recognises that it has a strong majority in this mandate and, with it, a great responsibility to push forward changes that were not possible in the past due to different political realities. Those who have no right to be in Europe must not be in Europe!” Romana Tomc added.
