The National Assembly passed an amendment sponsored by Democrat (SDS) MP Jože Tanko under which the Constitutional Court will need to handle each petition for which the petitioner had legitimate interests on submission even though they have lost those while waiting for their petition to be handled.
Tanko said the court would thus no longer be able to reduce its backlog by throwing out petitions it had already admitted.
