On 24th January in the morning, on the Možgan farm near Krško, one of the cattle that had been returned to the farm last week after over two months was euthanised. It was a cow that had a hematoma (a lump) on its side upon return to the farm. The veterinarian performed a puncture after the animal’s return, and the animal received antibiotics. However, its health deteriorated to the point that it had to be euthanised.
Before being taken away, the cow was healthy. After the return of the cows to the farm, all animals were examined by the local veterinarian.
According to 24ur.com, “another cow has a purulent lump on its side, and two cows have a fever”. The owners suspect that the health condition of the cows worsened during the loading of the cattle onto trucks.
As a reminder, the animals were illegally confiscated by inspector Danuša Štiglic from the veterinary inspection in Novo Mesto. The animals were chased across the meadow for several hours, and they were loaded onto trucks, sometimes with force. The cover photo shows a cow entangled in wires between its legs. It is highly likely that this cow was euthanised.
The first cows were returned to the Možgan farm last week. At that time, the owner stated that the animals were in worse condition than when they were taken away. Apparently, the initial 13 cows, one of which was euthanised yesterday, were returned from Mokronog (presumably from Cvetan). The remaining 11 were returned on Monday (from the Savinja Valley and presumably from the vicinity of Radeče).
