Minister of Digital Transformation Mark Boris Andrijanič today had a meeting with President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor.

Minister Andrijanič presented the plans and first solutions developed by the Strategic Council for Digitalisation in the areas of public administration and digital society, healthcare, education, the economy and business environment, new technologies and digital diplomacy. The minister believes that digitalisation should become our national priority and a project connecting the whole of society. He presented in more detail the digital transformation measures, to which the Slovenian recovery and resilience plan is devoting at least a fifth of its total allocation in accordance with the rules of the European Commission.

During their talks, President Pahor informed Minister Andrijanič of the work of the Permanent Consultative Committee for Climate Policy of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, which has repeatedly called on the Government and the competent authorities to take into account the principles of sustainable development and the provisions of the Paris Agreement when adopting measures for the functioning of the economy and society in its recommendations. In this context, President Pahor proposed that Minister Andrijanič set up a new working group within the Strategic Council for Digitalisation that will be responsible for digitalisation and the green transition.  Minister Andrijanič agreed with President Pahor that digitisation is a very important lever for achieving sustainable development and accepted the President’s proposal.

They also agreed that digitalisation represents an exceptional opportunity for Slovenia. They agreed on regular cooperation between the Permanent Consultative Committee for Climate Policy of the President of the Republic of Slovenia and the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Digital Transformation, the aim being that Slovenia makes the most of the post-COVID-19 economic recovery to drive forward digitalisation and the green transition and promote sustainable development in accordance with climate policy objectives.
