The National Assembly passed the government-proposed amendment to the identity cards act under which new biometric ID cards will start to be issued on 28 March 2022, instead of 3 January 2022, as initially planned.
In line with the change, it will be possible to use expired ID cards until the end of March. Whoever needs a new ID card before that date will be able to get one, but it will not yet be biometric, the Interior Ministry has explained.
