How socio-political civil servants have been covering up the incompetence of left wing governments for a decade

In the show Politično on public television, the Minister of Defence Matej Tonin said that the Minister of Labour Janez Cigler Kralj managed to announce an additional thousand beds in homes for the elderly. As the left wing opposition does not tolerate the successes of the current government, the host and interlocutor Luka Mesec hinted that the loosening of the beds was merely the result of the deaths of covid patients, and the editor of Večer, Matija Stepišnik, is obviously of a similar opinion. “It is amazing how quickly good deeds can be misinterpreted,” Kralj Cigler warned, and the “independent” journalist was also criticised by Prime Minister Janez Janša. The fact is that the media have been covering up the incompetence of left wing governments for a decade, which in the case of homes for the elderly did not build a single new facility, and are now attacking the government, which is solving the situation in DSOs in addition to the epidemic. Absolutely perverted.

“It is amazing how quickly good deeds can be misinterpreted. With the team, we immediately approached strengthening the care of the elderly. The public tender for concessions will bring 1,280 new places in homes for the elderly (DSO). Moreover, there are 396 public tenders for day centres and temporary accommodation. Our goal is five new state homes and the completion of two more,” wrote the Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities Janez Cigler Kralj to the editor of Večer, Matija Stepišnik.

Namely, Stepišnik tweeted that the Minister of Defence Matej Tonin managed the impossible, as he boasts that there is now enough space in homes for the elderly. In his opinion, the government of Janez Janša caused a second wave of the epidemic, which ended in brutal death statistics. “There is no God (except for Janša), in the name of politics it is allowed/to say/everything,” he remarked and somehow paraphrased Dostoevsky and others. In a show on public television yesterday, Tonin said that the Minister had announced thousand extra beds in the homes, which the Left has managed with only three hundred beds in ten years. As expected, the host of the show hinted that the release of the beds was the result of many deaths due to the virus, with which, judging by the smile, the leader of the Levica party, Luka Mesec, also agreed.

Instead of building homes and hospitals, money was thrown into Rog and Metelkova. The Prime Minister also responded to Stepišnik’s remark, commenting: “Look at the ‘independent’ journalist who was silent like a grave for ten years when his godparents threw money at Metelkova and Rog instead of building homes for the elderly.” Already at the beginning of the month, when answering parliamentary questions, the Prime Minister emphasised that Slovenia had the fastest growth in construction in Europe last year, but not because we are so very good at it, but more due to the fact that not much has been built in previous years. The money was rather invested in Metelkova and Rog. “We are facing the third wave of the epidemic, but we expect to make up for this fall from last year. We will be better than predicted,” announced Janez Janša. It is also a fact that since the beginning of the current government, when Minister Cigler Kralj took over the Ministry, great changes have begun to take place also in this area. Namely, at the beginning of his term of office, the Minister set the regulation of the field of integrated care for the elderly as one of his key priorities, as this has been extremely neglected in the last decade, although Slovenia is characterised by an aging population.
