The Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices has approved the use of 46 Swiss-made Bellavista ventilators for Covid-19 patients, which were purchased during the first wave of the epidemic in spring but could not be used due to missing certificates.
The ventilators were bought by the Agency for Commodity Reserves but since they had been originally intended for the Chinese market, they did not have all the certificates, including the mandatory CE certification. The requisite certificates have now been secured and the agency have cleared them for use in hospitals with a decision dated 18 November.
