He predicted six mandates, now “Golob has been bothering colleagues in the European Commission for some time, saying that he would like to be the Commissioner for Energy in the future European Commission,” as confirmed by Janez Janša, the President of the Slovenian Democratic Party.

The scandals are piling up, promised reforms of Golob’s government are nowhere to be seen, and the country has been led into chaos. The biggest scandal we have witnessed in recent days is the revelation about the leakage of classified data from the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS), better known as the Slovenian Watergate. It seems that the latter involved an agreement between Golob, the secretary of Golob’s party Gibanje Svoboda Vesna Vuković, and the director of FURS Peter Grum, who was appointed by the Gibanje Svoboda.

End for Golob

Less than two years have passed, and Robert Golob is fleeing from Slovenia. Even the deep state network, which installed him as prime minister less than two years ago, has turned its back on him. Now, the latter is said to swear by Klemen Boštjančič, the worst finance minister in the history of independent Slovenia.

Less than two years after the last parliamentary elections, which were held on April 24th, 2022, everything is over for Golob. In April 2022, Golob spoke of the time for dance. Dance was followed by promises of numerous reforms and timelines. When nothing came of it, we witnessed a promise that there would be no more promises, only hard work that would be followed by results. There are no results, Robert Golob confirmed that work is not his thing, in recent months he has been on vacation and sick leave more than at work.

That Golob or his Golobing is over is now also confirmed by media favourable to the government. Or as our editor Metod Berlec wrote on the X network: “Interestingly, even on Radio Slovenia in the programme Events and Echoes, they allow the possibility that there will be a change at the top of the party and the government in the Gibanje Svoboda after yesterday’s upheaval within the largest government party (the departure of Vesna Vuković, ed.) because Vuković and Golob are so strongly connected. In other words, the possibility that the Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Klemen Boštjančič will replace (again the sick Golob) as the president of the party and the government is becoming increasingly real.” Robert Golob is said to have been on sick leave again last weekend, he did not chair the government meeting on Thursday. It also applies to him that he is more on vacation and sick leave than at work. His colleagues are also leaving rapidly or, but more on that later. Now let’s focus on the Slovenian Watergate.

Slovenian Watergate

The police have officially confirmed that they are investigating suspicions of the criminal offense of leakage of classified data from the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS), which can be termed as the Slovenian Watergate affair, one of the biggest political scandals in the country, related to the acquisition of secret and confidential data.
