“Summary of views of RTV Slovenia journalists: Igor Pirkovič is a problem, whereas Mojca Pašek Šetinc is ours,” said communication expert Edvard Kadič.
Let’s remember: the RTV management reported that at the end of the term of office of the current acting director, Kaja Jakopič, the editor-in-chief of the TV Slovenia Information Programme, Jadranka Rebernik announced Igor Pirkovič as the acting director the New Media Editorial Board. Jakopič was criticised for turning the state portal into a newsletter of the far left. As expected, RTV employees do not recognise the latter. At the appointment of Pirkovič, they wrote: “We emphasise that the web portal of public radio and television is politically independent, and our team strives to do its job in an ethical and professional way, so for us any politicisation of content is absolutely unacceptable.”
Along with “political independence” and “absolute unacceptability of content politicisation”, we remember, for example, the anti-government activist and Russophile Boris Vasev, or the most “balanced” and “politically unprofiled” public service show – Studio City, created by an “independent” writer of an “independent” and “politically impartial” Mladina, Marcel Štefančič. Mojca Pašek Šetinc, for example, is also “independent” and politically impartial, otherwise a known ardent opponent of Prime Minister Janez Janša and the SDS, but at the same time in love with the “blue eyes” of the Murgle’s uncle… It is understandable that with Pirkovič, political activism on the MMC portal would gradually end in support of some, that is, the left political options, especially the SD and the Levica. The purpose of the portal is truly independent reporting, which we have not seen so far…
However, the fact is that RTVS activists are “impartially” critical of the alleged support of journalist Igor Pirkovič for Janez Janša and the SDS, while they are not bothered by the fact that Pašek Šetinc openly announced her political engagement with Robert Golob, after all, she is “theirs”, is she not? No critical contribution can be found in which “Members of the MMC Editorial Board” strongly oppose its simultaneous involvement in the public service and its announcement of clear, open political engagement (“political activations”). And in such a situation, they can still expect readers, listeners, and viewers to consider them “independent” and “impartial”. Seriously?!
