“At first, I thought he had a question for me, but then he started picking on me with his hate speech and entered my personal space and caused a strong uncomfortable feeling with the threats. In fact, it was even about contact. That is why I showed him with my hands to move away,” the chairwoman of the session, SDS MP Anja Bah Žibert described the unpleasant experience with SD MP Franc Trček. She also stated in more detail what Trček was telling her.

“Yesterday was a very demanding meeting of the health committee. It was convened on Saturday, because for two weeks we have activities from morning to evening in the National Assembly, so there were no other dates. And soon at the beginning of the session, when we discussed the first item on the agenda, it seemed that this session would not only be long, but more of a “KUL session”, continuing with the tactics of exhaustion, which began with the interpellation of Simona Kustec,” SDS MP Anja Bah Žibert said in the introduction. As she is still convinced, it is no longer a matter of content, but of the matter not being concluded, and this time KUL members also counted on that.

They wanted the matter to be dragged on for so long with various procedural, not substantive, appearances that the session of the National Assembly, scheduled for Wednesday, would not take place. Somewhere in the end, in the event of obstruction, they also admitted it themselves. “During this time, there was also an incident that was shocking for me, and the shock came only a few minutes later. Nevertheless, I picked myself up and decided not to interrupt the meeting.” This time, she did not want to give in, for the event to deter her from continuing, even though she experienced a verbal attack and also hate speech from SD MP Franc Trček.

In this case, it was not a public statement, as we are used to with Trček, but it was actually a matter of approaching the position from which Bah Žibert chaired and from where she led the session. At first, she thought he had a question for her, but then he picked on her with his hate speech and entered her personal space, causing a strong uncomfortable feeling with the threats (it was actually already contact). So, she showed with her hands to move away. “I experienced the threat directly, in fact already in contact, and it is completely different from his public quasi-statements and when he imagines himself to be witty.”

Despite everything, Bah Žibert persisted and devoted herself to the historical law on long-term care.

Considering that Trček is an old acquaintance of the police, and considering his actions at the Maribor uprisings, he is unpredictable. With him, the reaction cannot be completely predicted. She could have interrupted the session and even called the security service, as all the conditions were met, but she preferred to focus on the law on long-term care, which they fought for, and is also the first of its kind in Slovenian history. Thus, in spite of the great inconveniences caused by some KUL members, she continued the session and chaired it for several hours without changing.

What was Trček telling her?

She described the event as very “unpleasant” and “terrible” because it was no longer just verbal violence. He entered her individual, personal space in such a way that she even had to push him away because he was touching her. She chaired the meeting, and he approached her. Namely, sometimes MPs come because they are interested in who is next in line or when they are in line, etc. “At that moment, he started threatening: if you will give me reminders, you do not know who Trček is, and then he started mentioning some kids and covid-19. However, I did not fully understand whether his children have covid-19 or whether he wants this disease for my children or that he wish for my child to be in the covid ward.” She was in shock and at the same time chaired the session, so she cannot fully comment on this part.
