The Statistics Office registered 17,575 deaths in Slovenia in the first ten months of 2020, up by 2.7% on the same period in 2019. The number of deaths in October alone was up by 26.8% year-on-year to 2,073.
Interim data, released on Monday, also show the number of births in the period between January and October fell by 4.8% compared to the same period in 2019 to 15,540. Excess mortality in the period was 4.5% compared to the average in the same period between 2015 and 2019.
