By: V4 Agency

A migrant wielding a wooden rod, attacked and repeatedly hit an officer in broad daylight in central Milan. The officer sustained minor injuries.

In central Milan, police officers rushed to the aid of a colleague who was violently hit with a wooden rod by a Cameroonian immigrant.

The homeless person approached and started verbally insulting a policeman and then tried grabbing and pushing him to the ground. At this point, several officers intervened demanding the attacker’s ID. In response, the 27-year-old undocumented illegal immigrant hurled a bottle at the officers, then grabbed and wielded a wooden rod striking an officer who fell to the ground. The other officers, used pepper spray to try and disarm the man, but were unsuccessful.

While attempting to flee the scene, the migrant, still brandishing the wooden stick, again hit one of the policemen chasing him. In the end, an officer fired a warning shot into the air, forcing the migrant to stop and police captured him. While trying to escape, the migrant had injured several passers-by with the wooden makeshift weapon.

The officer who took the blow to the head was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Although he lost a lot of blood, his injuries were not serious and he is expected to make a full recovery in a few days.

“The violent behaviour of an African migrant beating up local police officers in Milan for no reason is shameful,”

said Silvia Sardone, MEP for the right-wing League party.

She said the news is spreading on the internet and everybody can see what is happening on the streets of Milan in broad daylight.

“We are hosting criminals from outside the EU in our city, where they can get away with anything with impunity. The migrants feel they can do what they want, thanks to our city leaders who have been disconnected from reality for a decade. For them, ensuring security is an inconvenience, while taking in migrants is considered an achievement. I have full solidarity with the police and I hope the municipality will do much more to provide them with the right equipment to avoid such awful incidents in the future,” the politician added.
