Golob’s “sounds in the head”

By Gašper Blažič

The whole country acts like a patient who thinks he can keep dancing until he is lying dead in the middle of the dance floor.

We live in a country where it is normal for the Prime Minister to protest against the Prime Minister. Yes, same person against same person. According to Hegel, this could be called “the sameness of sameness and non-sameness”. Realistically, we would call it a kind of schizophrenia, which determines the Slovenian (political) past, present, and future. According to Drago Jančar, we could say that Robert Golob “hears sounds in his head”.

Up until now, we have experienced, at least as far as possible, a conflict between restored (neo)communism, whose leaders are now in power, and the Slovenian spring, whose main fruits are the Slovenian exodus from Yugoslavia and the path to multi-party democracy. Only the form remains of the latter, while in reality we are watching a horror movie all the time, when the inquisitor Mojca Šetinc Pašek twists the hands of the last Mohicans of the media’s difference.

What happened again in Dražgoše on the first Sunday of January, where Slovenian national memory and ethics were once again polluted, is just the icing on the cake of the current regime. Something new is happening: Prime Minister Robert Golob, while expanding his government team – of course, at the same time that the “negligent” Alenka Bratušek is returning to the ministerial post – is protesting against the supposedly unsustainable conditions in healthcare. Against himself, then, because he created them himself with his way of governing, also with the choice of Danijel Bešič Loredan as the minister covering this area. But all this is just the tip of the iceberg, which shows that the entire country is a kind of patient who refuses to be treated, even though he knows that his condition is very bad. And he imagines that he can keep dancing until he is lying dead in the middle of the dance floor.

And let us remember that, just like in the days of Noah, they danced and rejoiced on the Titanic – until disaster struck. At the same time, I can only hope that the inhabitants of Slovenia will realise in time how terribly scammed they were on April 24th, 2022. There is no use crying over spilt milk, now is the time for healing. First, the consequences of Golob’s schizophrenia…
