The Tunisian National Guard arrested the main suspect for the 2015 bombing of the Bardo Museum. The terrorist was in the process of making the illegal crossing to Italy in a barge.
The man was arrested at dawn on Monday 17 May by units of the Sahel National Sea Guard off the east coast of Tunisia. He was on board one of two barges that were intercepted off the coasts of Nabeul and Sousse and were on their way to irregularly reaching the Italian coast, Karim Balhouch, general secretary of the Sousse Sea Guard Union, told the local press.
On the two boats were 27 irregular migrants of Tunisian nationality between the ages of 20 and 34 who were handed over to the units of the Nabeul Lake District and the El Kantaoui Sea Guard in Sousse.
