This year, the Slovenian Police dealt with and dismantled 150 networks, in which some non-governmental organisations dealing with humanitarian aid to migrants and human smugglers were also involved in.

Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša said today that in some places this is a very coordinated activity and that some networks of human smugglers are also connected with some non-governmental organisations.

In recent days, we have again witnessed some reports that allegedly anonymous individuals are roughly driving away migrants from the green border with sticks (in Croatia). Janša said: “One should be careful about such events, which are sometimes deliberately announced into the public, and can also be provoked in order to cover up a criminal activity of human smuggling.” He also said that 10 billion euros are turned over annually on human trafficking on the Balkan route.
