Črnomelj police officers stopped a van with Romanian registration plates, after 7 p.m. yesterday in the vicinity of Črnomelj. The police examined the vehicle and found 22 foreigners (16 Pakistani and 6 Eritrean citizens) in the freight section of the vehicle, who had just illegally crossed the state border.
The 44-year-old Romanian, who transported the foreigners, was detained and taken to detention facilities. The detectives brought him before the investigating judge with a complaint for the criminal offense of Prohibited Border or Territory of State Crossing. The four juvenile foreigners were taken to the immigration facility. A Pakistani citizen, who expressed his intention for international protection, was taken to the Asylum Centre. The remaining foreigners will be handed over to the Croatian security authorities, when the police procedures are concluded.
