More than 50 migrants arrive at Dover after crossing Channel overnight

by A.P.

49 migrants were picked up attempting to cross the Channel today in four separate small boat incidents, the Home Office has said.

The intercepted crossings were made following a night that saw 126 people picked up by French authorities in eight overnight incidents.

Their arrival brings the total number of migrants who have risked their life to cross the Channel to Britain this year to more than 300.

Chris Philp, Minister for Immigration Compliance and the Courts said: ‘Since the start of the year, through the joint operational and intelligence deployment shared by our two countries, the French authorities have prevented more than 70 per cent of attempted Channel crossings.
