SKOPJE, North Macedonia — Police in North Macedonia say they have found 55 migrants in two separate incidents.
One migrant was injured when the truck carrying him and 42 others hit a concrete pillar at a toll station.
Both incidents took place Friday, police announced Saturday, and all the migrants will be deported back to Greece, where they came from.
The truck carrying 43 migrants — 13 from Bangladesh, 11 from Pakistan, 10 from Syria, 5 from Afghanistan and 4 from Turkey — was travelling north to Serbia when the accident happened at a toll booth near the capital of Skopje. The driver fled the scene and is still at large.
Also Friday, a passenger car was found near the border with Greece carrying 12 Syrian migrants. Police arrested the 35-year-old Serb driver.
