Dutch company gives 9 Syrian refugees a job: None return after first week

A construction company from Capelle aan den Ijssel had the plan to give nine Syrian asylum seekers, with a background in construction work, a job. As they hired the men, they did not show up after a week, Dutch newspaper AD reports, according to Voice of Europe.

 

Dominque De Vries, the owner of construction company DSPPM gave the nine men a two-year contract, but his warm gesture backfired.

“They’ve stayed for a week, because they didn’t want to work fulltime (40 hours) … Afterwards I did not see them again,” De Vries says.
